State-of-the-art production facility

What a fantastic project! 17 WEWO Techmotion 20T Omni AGVs transport the modular homes fully automatically through the assembly line. WEWO supplied the AGVs, the fleet manager and the user-friendly Andon system for an optimal assembly process.

Daiwa House Modular Europe, the European market leader in industrial modular construction, is opening the brand-new “Daiwa House Modular Factory” in Montfoort, together with Minister Hugo de Jonge. With this state-of-the-art production facility, the company can massively scale up its production volume for sustainable modular homes and play a crucial role in tackling the major housing shortage.

3,500 homes per year from housing factories

In the new factory, Daiwa House Modular Europe will produce and assemble around 2,000 modules per year in an efficient line production process, which will be used to produce approximately 1,000 homes per year. Added to the existing production capacity, this brings the total to around 3,500 homes per year. This has been made possible by the major steps the company has taken in recent years to industrialise its production.

The new factory is equipped with fixed workstations for specific tasks, using the latest automation and robotisation techniques. For example, the modules travel on automated guided vehicles along 17 workstations, with a cycle time of 45 minutes per workstation. This allows homes to be produced even faster and with higher quality compared to traditional construction. In addition, this makes the work more accessible to more people, including those of a more advanced age, because the factory adapts to them rather than the other way around.
