For DOC Kaas, part of the DMK Group, WEWO Techmotion implemented an AGV system for the automated transport of filled and empty cheese containers between different stages of the production process. In this 24/7 production environment, continuity and reliability are essential.

The AGV handles both the delivery of empty crates to the film wrapping line and the removal of full crates to the next stage of the process. At the same time, the AGV collects empty crates from there, creating a continuous and closed material flow. The system thus forms the central link in the logistics process surrounding the production line.

The system is based on a single omnidirectional AGV with integrated chain conveyors, enabling two crates to be handled simultaneously per transport. The AGV navigates using natural navigation and follows a fixed route within the factory, without the need for physical guidance markings on the floor. This ensures the system is flexible and future-proof.

A key component of the solution is the order management system developed. Sensors on the production line continuously monitor the availability of empty and full crates. This information is converted into variables via a PLC and forwarded to the WEWO MES. Based on this, transport orders are automatically generated and dynamically controlled, ensuring the process runs entirely autonomously.

The AGV is designed for high capacity and operates continuously as part of the production process. With a capacity of 17 transport cycles per hour (two crates per cycle), the system supports the production line’s maximum output. Thanks to opportunity charging, the AGV remains operational 24/7 without interruptions.
