Project: Outdoor AGV SKYLUX

WEWO Techmotion has implemented an outdoor AGV solution for Skylux in Belgium for the automated transport of conservatory components between the production area and the warehouse. The challenge in this project lay in reliably automating a logistics flow that takes place both indoors and outdoors.

The solution consists of a single omnidirectional AGV that transports packaged veranda frames from the packaging machine to the warehouse and returns empty containers to production. The system connects both locations via a fixed route, with the AGV also travelling along an outdoor section.

A key feature of this solution is that the AGV is fully suitable for outdoor use. During transport, the AGV automatically passes through doors and barriers, which the system controls autonomously. This enables safe operation between indoor and outdoor environments without the need for manual intervention.

The process is controlled via an integrated order system in combination with the WEWO MES. Sensors on the conveyor belt and in the warehouse continuously detect the status of positions and automatically generate transport orders. As a result, the entire logistics flow is dynamically controlled based on the current situation.

Within the warehouse, containers are stored on multi-level racking, with the AGV both placing full crates and collecting empty ones. Thanks to smart detection and priority logic, the correct position is always selected and waiting times in the process are minimised.

The result is a fully automated and robust logistics solution that seamlessly connects production and the warehouse. Thanks to the combination of indoor and outdoor functionality, intelligent control and autonomous navigation, Skylux has a future-proof solution offering maximum flexibility and reliability.
