An AGV can work alongside the robots or cobots at your location, but can also be produced as an autonomous mobile robot (AMR).
When we talk about an AGV robot, there are two options. Option one: a robot can work alongside an AGV. Option two: a robot can be placed on top of an AGV. Play videoFor starters, your robots can interact with an AGV. The AGV then, for example, collects a finished product from your robot. By means of a ‘handshake’, the robot knows that the AGV has arrived, so that it can place the product on the AGV. But it is also possible that the AGV drives past various robots, where they perform an action on a product. For example, adding a product, fix something or checking something.
A robot can also be placed on top of the AGV. This combination has several advantages. Because the robot moves safely through the room and is not in a fixed place, it can do its work in different places. Picking parts or checking products on weight, color and dimensions, for example. Of course, the safety laser scanner on the AGV ensures that the robot is always protected against collisions with objects and people. The robot can also be widely deployed 24/7 at various positions in the production location.
Wherever we write ‘robot’ in this text, we also mean ‘cobot’. That is because an AGV can be easily combined with a cobot: a collaborative robot. This cobot can do its job before or after an AGV, in other words at a fixed location, but it can also be placed on top of an AGV. And where traditional robots are shielded, cobots actually work together with people - they communicate with them. They can therefore be deployed in different places and can perform different tasks, such as packing goods or replenishing stocks. It is therefore an affordable solution to automate processes and reduce the workload of your employees.
Finally, all our AGVs can be produced as an AMR: an autonomous mobile robot. This is primarily because our AGVs are equipped with safety features such as a safety scanner. This allows them to operate safely near people. We also have various navigation options available, including laser guidance. This is necessary to turn an AGV into an AMR. One of the characteristics of an AMR is that it uses built-in sensors, laser scanners and advanced software to detect its environment and choose the most efficient route to the target. An AMR is therefore a flexible AGV - and we can supply that.
